UT Home Care Services at UT Medical Center began providing home health care, including hospice care, in 1983. Since that time, it has expanded into one of the region’s largest home care providers. Today, Dr. Jacobs uses a “dashboard” that presents the current situation of dozens of COVID-19 patients to her in a way that allows her to monitor their progress. She filters patients who are at higher and lower risk, and she is using what she learns to develop algorithms that might help identify important turning points early, such as when patients need special attention or an urgent intervention.
